Desctription

This is one of the finest pieces in a mountaineer-themed series that Azechi is known for. Here, the figure standing beyond the withered trees was described as an imaginary figure. It is the personification of various aspects of mountains such as their sheer scale, depth, beauty and formidableness.
Born in Ehime prefecture, and he spent his later years of his life in his adopted hometown, Machida, to which he left significant legacies, such as donation of nearly 300 works to this museum.
