GREETING
Opened in 1987 as one of the world's few museums dedicated to prints, the Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts now maintains a collection of some 30,000 Japanese and Western prints spanning from the eighth century to today. Works of exceptional aesthetic value show the history of print art and reveal technological changes, social roles, and other insights as multifaceted works of art. In addition to conservation and research of our collection, the museum's mission is to use its collection to introduce the amazing world of print art through exhibitions on diverse themes. As a comprehensive venue for appreciating, creating, and displaying art for the public and our community, we offer a variety of facilities, including rental exhibition spaces and print studio. Museum events and lectures of all kinds bring together local residents and visitors into this center for art and cultural exchange in Machida. We invite you to stroll through Serigaya Park and visit the museum nearby for an intimate encounter with art.
